Carthage College's Griffin Shields (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) led the Red Men to wins over No. 6 Stevens, Medaille and Baruch over the weekend and has been named the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League Player of the Week on offense for the second time.
The junior right side hitter led the Carthage offense with 52 kills (4.73/set) and finished the weekend with a .404 hitting percentage. Shields added 14 digs and seven total blocks to go along with 60.0 points during the three wins, averaging 5.5 points per set.
The Naperville, Illinois native hammered 23 kills with a .415 hitting percentage against No. 6 Stevens, 14 kills in a sweep of Medaille and finished with 15 kills against Baruch.
No. 3 Carthage (16-1, 6-0 MCVL) will return to MCVL play this weekend against Dominican and Benedictine.
