MCVL, U.S.A. — The Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) recognized Trine's Johnson-Kuhao Ho'Okano-Pelekai and Karl Both as its weekly award winners, as announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Ho'Okano-Pelekai was named Offensive Player of the Week for the second-straight week while Both earned Defensive Player of the Week. This duo has both earned weekly awards this season as Ho'Okano-Pelekai earned his third OPOTW weekly honor and Both added this week's honor to his OPOTW honor from Week 5.
A senior outside hitter from Hawaii, Ho'Okano-Pelekai racked up 27 kills, an average of 4.5 kills per set, in two sweep victories over Spalding and Wabash. He hit .375 and added three service aces for a total of 31.5 points.
Both, a middle blocker from Lombard, Ill., racked up 12 blocks in Trine's two victories. In the process, Both became Trine's all-time blocks leader with his 225th career block that came against Spalding.
Trine is currently riding an eight-game winning streak and is tied atop the MCVL standings with a 7-1 record.
