MCVL, U.S.A. — The Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) announced its weekly award winners for Week Two, recognizing Mount Union's Jack McClure and Camden Weeg for their standout performances.
McClure earned his spot as Offensive Player of the Week while teammate Weeg took home Defensive Player of the Week honors.
McClure totaled 42 kills at a blistering .302 clip in three matches for Mount Union. He averaged 4.20 kills per set and scored 4.7 points per set to lead the Purple Raider offense. The senior outside hitter racked up 26 kills against (RV) Messiah and had 22 kills in a ranked matchup against No. 14 Misericordia.
Weeg proved to be a strong presence at the net with 13.0 total blocks, averaging 1.08 blocks per set. The senior from Goodyear, Ariz. totaled six blocks in a win over Randolph Macon and had five blocks against 14th-ranked Misericordia.
The Purple Raiders went 1-2 on the week, but went toe-to-toe with strong competition. Mount Union fell in a five-set thriller to (RV) Messiah, but bounced back to defeat Randolph-Macon in four sets on Saturday. The Purple Raiders also matched up with 14th-ranked Misericordia and fell in four sets.
